Vitiligo is also known as skin discoloration. Vitiligo is a type of
skin disease in which the skin loses its pigment cells (melanocytes). So it
results in discolored patches in different areas of the body iincluding the
skin hair, retina and mucous membranes. Vitiligo occurs when the cells that
produce melanin die or no longer form melanin causing slowly enlarging white
patches of irregular shapes to appear on your skin. It is a type of the auto
immune disease.



Vitiligo is like Luceoderma. But the reasons for both to occur are
different.

Some medical treatments can reduce the severity of the condition but it
can be difficult to cure. The use of Sun screens as well as makeup or dyes to
cover the light areas of skin may improve appearance.
Treatment of the Vitiligo:-
A number of remedies can help decrease the visibility of the condition.
Some of the remedies can be:-
1.Using Sunscreen: - You should try to use sunscreen daily because the
lighter patches of skin are especially sensitive to Sunlight and they burn
easily. A dermatologist can advise best sunscreen according to suitable skin
type.


2.Photo therapy with UVB light:- Exposure to ultraviolet B (UVB) lamps is a common treatment option. Home treatment requires a small lamp and allows for daily use, which is more effective. If the treatment is done in a clinic, this will need 2 to 3 visits a week and the treatment’s time will be longer. If there are white spots across large areas of the body, UVB photo therapy may be used. This involves full-body treatment. It is done in a hospital, UVB photo therapy, combined with other treatments, can have a positive effect on Vitiligo, However, the result is not totally predictable, and there is still no treatment that will fully re-pigment the skin.

3.Photo therapy with UVA light :- UVA treatment is usually conducted in a health care setting; first, the patient takes a drug that increases the skin's sensitivity to UV light. Then, in a series of treatments, the affected skin is exposed to high doses of UVA light; Progress will be evident after 6 to 12 months of twice-weekly sessions.

4.Skin camouflage: - In cases of mild Vitiligo, the patient can camouflage some of the white patches with colour, cosmetic creams and makeup. They should select tones that best match their skin features. If creams and makeup are correctly applied, they can last 12 to 18 hours on the face and up to 96 hours for the rest of the body Most topical applications are waterproof

5.De pigmentation: - When the affected area is widespread, covering 50 percent of the body or more, depigmentation can be an option; this reduces the skin colour in unaffected parts to match the whiter areas. Depigmentation is achieved by applying strong topical lotions or ointments, Such as monobenzone, mequinol, or hydroquinone. The treatment is permanent, but it can make the skin more fragile, Long exposure to the sun must be avoided; Depigmentation can take 12 to 14 months, depending on factors Such as the depth of the original skin tone.

6.Skin grafts :- In a skin graft, a Surgeon carefully removes healthy patches of pigmented skin and uses them to cover affected areas, This procedure is not very common, because it takes time and can result in Scarring in the area where the skin came from and the area where it is placed. Blister grafting involves producing a blister on normal skin using Suction. The top of the blister is then removed and placed on an area where pigment has been lost, There is a lower risk of scarring.
7.Tattooing: - Surgery is used to implant pigment into the skin, It works
best around the lips, especially in people with darker skin. Drawbacks can
include difficulty matching the color of skin and the fact that tattoos fade
but do not tan. Sometimes, skin damage caused by tattooing can trigger another
patch of Vitiligo.

1.Mustard oil: - A mixture of the mustard oil and turmeric is useful for

with 250 mi of mustard oil and apply it on affected area.
2.Water: - Water kept in the copper vessel is a part of the treatment of
the Vitiligo. The fresh drinking water and place it in copper. Leave it
overnight and drink it in morning. The properties of copper mixed with water
help in re-pigmentation of the skin. Drinking this water stimulates the
monocytes and eventually increases the melanin. So helps in treating white
patches.
3.Sweet basil leaves: - Apply sweet basil leaves extract with the mixture
of the lemon juice. It is an effective home-made remedy for the Vitiligo. Apply
this mixture for the 5-6 months can significantly reduce the patches. So you
must try this mixture.
4.Radish seeds: - Radish seeds are effective in regeneration of lost
melanin. Take 2 teaspoon of vinegar and add it to powdered radish seeds. Mix it
to make a thick paste. Apply it on affected skin for 6 months.
5.The plant mama cadela: - It is used to treat Vitiligo since ancient
times. Take the root of this plant and boil it in the fresh water. Apply the
extract on the affected skin. The natural immunity increasing properties of this
herb make it effective for treating almost all type of the skin disorders.
6.Psoralea: - It is used in medication of the Vitiligo; it can also be
used as home remedy. Soak some seeds of termarid and psoralen in water and
leave it for 4-5 days, dry it to make a paste. Apply the paste on white skin
patches for 1 month. You can continue using it to get more significant results.
Other homeopathic solutions for Vitiligo are:-
