BLACK FUNGUS (mucormycosis)




It is also known as mucormycosis. It is a light micrograph of a mature sporangium of a mucor fungus. India is seeing a rise in cases of mucormycosis, a rare but dangerous fungal infection. It can be deadly. It is a very rare infection. It is fungal disease. We can easily explain this fungus with the example of decaying fungus on vegetables, fruits. The infection found is same as this fungus. This is fatal disease which is not a new fungus. It was previously known as Zygomyosis.This disease is present in natural atmosphere. Fungus named Mucormycets is reason for this disease.

 

Diabetic patients and people who have taken high dose of steroids are at High risk of this disease. It is not a contagious disease. Its spores are present in soil and air. But this disease is seen in rare cases. It only occurs to people having too low immunity.

 

People who have risk of mucormycosi   

1. People having diabetes.

2. People suffering from AIDS

3. People using excessive steroids due to COVID

4. People who don’t maintain personal hygine.

 

Atmospheric conditions are required for fungal infection.So it is necessary that suitable conditions should not be given for increment of fungus. Moisture should be avoided.

 

SYMPTOMS

·                  Pain in eyes and swallowed eyes.

·                  Unusual pain on face especially jaw

·                  Swelling at one side of face

·                  Feeling hot and dry in nose

·                  Bleeding from nose

·                  Skin discoloration

·                  Blood in cough

·                  Chest pain

PREVENTION

1. Control your sugar

2. Wear masks

3. Avoid construction sites, dirt, mud, dirty water

4. Maintain proper hygiene

5. Don’t give steroids to mild COVID patients.

6. as it goes from nose so do Jalniti twice a day

 

Treatment is difficult and costly

 

Medication and Treatment of mucormycosis

1. Amphotericine B

2. B Posaconazote

These medicines can help to treat mucormycosis but they have a lot of side effects such as it affects kidney.

 

3. Surgery removes affected tissue. In this process the part which in infected is needed to remove.
